At Lockheed Martin, we are focused on advancing technology with rotary wing & fixed wing platforms including aspects of integrated capabilities for 21st Century Security. Our team in Owego, NY performs a key role in ensuring our customers stay Ahead of Ready. We are looking to fill a role for a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on the Mechanical Installation Design of Mission Systems across multiple platforms, including a strong focus on the MH-60R/S aircraft for the U.S. Navy and our Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The team will support projects covering Customer Contracts and new technologies advancements through IRAD.

THE WORK

The Hardware Engineering Manager's responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of mechanical and systems engineers and designers in the design and development of mechanical installation designs for avionics and system installations on fixed wing and rotary wing platforms
- Providing technical, programmatic, and leadership support to the team, including project leadership and planning, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical design/drafting, and tool support
- Overseeing the design and development of operator consoles, mission equipment racks, avionics and antenna installations, airframe modifications, cockpit modernization, and onsite field installation support
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and program management, to ensure successful project execution
- Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans
- Identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing process improvements to drive efficiency and affordability

Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives
- Highly experienced in leading teams of engineers (e.g., previous experience as a Technical Lead, Project Manager, System Lead, or Product Lead)
- Experience in mechanical engineering principles and practices, or a similarly related field
- Working knowledge in an adjacent discipline (Structures, Thermal, Fluid Dynamics, Aeronautics, Systems Engineering, Hardware, or Mechanical Engineering)
- Demonstrated proficiencies in earned value, schedule, cost, and risk management techniques
- Understanding of hardware engineering processes and the hardware engineering product life cycle
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance
Desired Skills:
- Prior management experience and/or experience leading a large functional project or change initiative
- Experience with Aircraft Design & Avionics Installation Design, & Aerospace Standards
- Experience with Model-Based CAD tools, including CATIA V5, 3DX, and/or Creo
- Experience with Windchill and/or EPDM product data management toolset
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices (Cameo preferred)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at both programmatic and technical levels with subordinates, senior management, program office, and customers
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement process improvements that drive efficiency and affordability
- Proposal preparation and negotiation experience
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $141,300 - $244,835. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
