In this role, you will provide expert support for portable and perishable tools across multiple sites, including Fort Worth, TX; Marietta, GA; Palmdale, CA; Greenville, SC; and Johnstown, PA. You will also serve as the primary point of contact and authority for secondary hole preparation and fastener installation processes.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As a Tool Engineer - Staff, you will:
• Support Tooling Operations: Provide daily portable and perishable tool support to all programs at multiple sites.
• Lead Expertise in Hole Preparation: Serve as the primary authority on secondary hole preparation and fastener installation processes, defining critical assembly applications for improvement.
• Collaborate Across Functions: Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Materials & Processes, MRB, Tool Services, Planning, and Shop Floor Personnel.
• Provide Technical Assistance: Offer guidance and support to production and engineering personnel to optimize processes and resolve challenges.
• Foster Collaboration: Work effectively both independently and in a team-oriented environment, ensuring alignment across diverse teams.
• Communicate Effectively: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with technical teams and management at all levels.
• Problem-Solve Proactively: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to improve processes and tooling performance.
• Travel as Needed: Support other Lockheed Martin facilities, including domestic and international production partners, through intermittent travel.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience and knowledge of portable equipment and cutting tools common to aircraft production.
• Aircraft structural assembly and technical requirements experience.
• Experience in resolving engineering, production, tooling and assembly issues related to aircraft structural assemblies.
• Experience with Catia V5, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Manufacturing and Standard Tool processes Experience.
• Planning and tool design processes Experience.
Desired Skills:
• Knowledge of LM Aero manufacturing and Standard Tool processes.
• Knowledge of LM Aero planning and tool design processes.
• Min. 5 years Aircraft structural assembly and technical requirements experience.
• Min. 5 years’ experience in resolving engineering, production, tooling and assembly issues related to aircraft structural assemblies.
• Experience and knowledge of secondary hole preparation processes, cutting tools and their application, cutting tool geometry and inspection, and hand tools commonly used in aircraft hole preparation operations.
• Experience and knowledge with aircraft assembly and fastener installation processes. Ability to work individually and within a teaming environment.
• Exhibit strong communication skills among peers and through different levels of management.
• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication for interfacing with technical support team and build teams.
• Experience in the application of lean/six sigma manufacturing techniques.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering and design requirements.
• Experience with creating or modifying process standards and VAMS.
• Experience working with cutting tool manufacturers to develop creative solutions for secondary hole preparation processes.
• Working knowledge and experience with leading or providing oversight to various projects.
• Experience with PDM, QADS, EDMS and VAS software suites.
• Demonstrated creative approach to technical problem solving.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
