Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a dedicated Mission Operations Systems Engineer to join the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Program, Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) and Next Gen Geo (NGG), Flight Operations Support (FOS) team as a Systems Engineer Release Manager.
As a Release Manager, you will lead satellite command and control software product coordination with a System Engineering approach. This individual will play a key role in leading the Release Planning Working Group, supporting the development of products used to command and control SBIRS and NGG OPIR flight assets throughout the program lifecycle, from development to launch, post-launch, and sustainment.
As a Release Manager, the selected candidate will collaborate with Project Leads and Subcontractors to plan and coordinate content for various block deliveries, ensuring seamless execution and integration. Additionally, they will work closely with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to track status, plan, and participate in product peer reviews, fostering a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.
This role also supports command product development, testing, and validation by executing products against software simulators and hardware testbeds, allowing the candidate to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. To excel in this position, the ideal candidate should possess a broad technical background, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.

In this role you will have the opportunity to exercise a breadth of skillsets including, but not limited to:
• Working with Segment Leads to integrate requirements
• Work with local and factory Subject Matter Experts/Certified Product Engineers to troubleshoot issues in various domains
• Work with engineering staff to select and coordinate validation requirements
• Support the program during the Development, Test, Launch and Early Orbit Test (LEOT), and Calibration Mission phases with products required to meet objectives
• Support the program during the sustainment phase of the program with validation/test of products required to meet mission objectives
• Participate and lead reviews of products to ensure requirements will be met within established timelines
• Create, manage and present Flight Operations Support (FOS) release schedules and content across the team, communicate status to management, and maintain those schedules
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Team oriented, eager to learn from, and help others
• Willingness to work rotating shifts
Desired Skills:
• Active DoD Secret/Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members
• Familiarity with any of the following: MATLAB, Python, STK, or satellite control software systems
• Commanding On-orbit Satellite(s)
• Experience with satellite Launch and Early Orbit Testing (L&EOT)
• Project management and organization
• Products release management experience
• Eager to learn and provide feedback on how to make processes better and more efficient
• Able to apply demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement constructive change
• Able to compile processes, practices, and concepts to see the bigger picture and what needs to be done to get to the end result, not just what is happening now
• Experience with statistical analysis and/or datamining large datasets

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $57,500 - $101,430. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
