Job Responsibilities
Description: Perform a variety of visual and dimensional inspections on selected production, model change or out of production transmission, rotorhead, gearbox and powerplant systems and related detail components as well as components in process of overhaul, modification and re-assembly from back shops through final assembly.
Typical Responsibilities
Follow standard inspection procedures check sheets, drawings and other written and oral instructions to perform a variety of standard inspection duties on selected major component systems and related accessories which include hydraulic servos, flight controls, power trains, drive shafts, tail rotors, fuel probes, landing gears, etc.
Inspect and evaluate detail parts and components for discrepancies prior to build-up for visual damage such as nicks, dents, scratches and other surface damage.
Review components scheduled for assembly and/or overhaul to assure complete compliance to specifications.
Use of standard measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers is required for component part evaluation.
Inspect and evaluate details and complete or overhauled assemblies of major components and accessory items and detect malfunctions.
Reinspect parts that require detail inspection after rework.
Inspect and verify all electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic tests conducted on assemblies to assure conformance to specifications.
Inspect and evaluate various details and assemblies of jet turbine engines.
Checkout dimensional clearance and functioning of engine assemblies.
Inspect each step of assembly or disassembly or rework; evaluate component parts and operational acceptability of components.
Inspection duties include checking for proper shimming, backlash, gear patterns, wear, paint acceptance, dimensional clearances, functioning and other items to assure completeness of assembly and operational acceptance.
Assure proper application of required preservatives and paint processes to parts.
Review all paperwork for proper configuration and completeness.
Disposition of all nonconforming material using electronic database.
Assure latest component revisions and modifications are incorporated using current technical directives and Quality Assurance data packages before release of components.
Perform other related inspection duties as directed.
Review historical records of units and record affectivity of all changes.
Review and sign all documents and generate return to service tags for military and commercial aircraft components.
Certification required for all torque applications.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
Refer only unusual conditions to working leader or supervisor.
Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a well-rounded knowledge of aircraft component inspection procedures, manufacturing functions, assembly and mechanical operations. Also requires ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, use precision measuring instruments, follow engineering orders and instructions, and interpret military and commercial specifications, according to inspection practices.
Requires 2 years high school plus 2 to 3 years mechanical trades training, A&P license or equivalent. Must maintain current certification(s) as required.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
