Responsibilities
Description:Seeking an early career engineer for developing target discrimination algorithms for advanced EO-IR sensors. Task consists of developing advanced discriminations algorithms leveraging machine learning techniques along with analyzing and characterizing algorithm performance of a multi-function EO/IR system using flight test data collected in a relevant environment. Candidate should have a desire to learn typical machine learning skills such as; neural networks, genetic algorithms, linear classification, deep learning, random forest, etc. Finally, candidate will be conducting detailed analyses and trade studies to identify performance enhancements and conduct fault isolation of any performance issues. This includes collaborating with subject matter experts within Lockheed Martin to ensure a robust design and sound methodology for algorithm upgrades. Experience using/developing MATLAB and C/C++ code is required. This individual must have effective communication skills.
Candidate will be required to work in a cross-functional team environment. Performing tasks and assignments that emphasize development of technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills in a structured framework within the engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, software, and systems. Must have good communication skills, work well in a team environment, and solves cross-functional technical problems.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with an additional two years experience or a related technical masters degree. Degrees must be from an accredited college in Engineering, Math, or Physics. Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks with little or no direction and interface well with other program disciplines. Candidate must possess outstanding communication skills as they will be coordinating with subcontractors, co-contractors and customers as well as presenting to customers and management. Must be able to work in a team environment. Considered an early-career position. Candidate must have or be able to acquire a security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Must have good communication skills, be able to effectively work in a team environment, capable of solving complex problems, and be able to focus on the complete product and the full life cycle of the product. Interest in weapon system development or fire control development.
- Strong background in mathematics and proficiency in MATLAB or a related simulation tool is preferred. Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++ is desired.
- Course work or related experience in electro-optics, system analysis, image processing, GNC, tracking and discriminations, integration and testing of hardware and/or software components is highly beneficial.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
