Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment team as a Staff-Level Quality Engineer at our Lexington Park, Maryland facility. Our team is responsible for engineering, manufacturing and sustaining products to meet our customer's needs.

What You Will Be Doing Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Applies quality principles in the areas of: design, incoming material, production control, manufacturing, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and/or buy products.

• Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings and procedures.

• Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place.

• Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action.
• Ensures effective implementation of quality management system within area of responsibility.

• Ensures effective implementation of a metrics program and actively address adverse trends. Interprets and provides governance to ensure full compliance with industry standards and customer regulations for specific product operations, including fielded systems from initial procurement, delivery, supply chain, reutilization and disposal.

• Measures organizational quality performance. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment while providing statistical analysis to determine root causes, establish corrective action, and apply strategies and/or systems designed to improve performance and productivity.

• Interprets and provides governance to ensure full compliance with industry standards, customer regulations, and company policy for specific product operations. Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements. Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity.

• Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

• Engages in supplier selection process and maintain certification programs. Applies diagnostics and other condition-based maintenance techniques; performs product and process surveillance, supports final acceptance of finished product, and collaborates with platform Users, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Sustainment to ensure quality standards are in place.

• Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:
The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

• Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or Business discipline with 5 years experience related to the following:

• Experience interpreting electrical and mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings as well as specifications and contract requirements so as to develop quality assurance processes and establish performance metrics.

• Experience with in-process and final inspection of mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies.

• Experience developing, tracking, and presenting quality control and quality assurance metrics
Desired Skills:
The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:

• Leadership experience, strong oral and written communication skills.

• Lean/Six Sigma Certification (Green/Black Belt)

• Experience related to developing, updating, and maintaining quality management system processes and procedures.

• Familiarity with Internal Auditing to ensure compliance to AS9100D standards. Performed duties and scope related to Quality Surveillance Planning and Execution.

• Familiarity and experience with maintaining Quality Management system that is FAA Part 21 certificated.

• Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems; be able to focus on continual improvement practices to drive corrective and preventive actions.

• Provide technical liaison support related to design and quality engineering matters.

• Able to identify and document supplier's quality deficiencies and ensure effective corrective action.

• Experience and certification in J-STD-001 Soldering Electrical and Electronics Assemblies, IPC-A-600 Acceptability of Printed Boards, IPC-A-610, and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620. Position requires a thorough understanding of Printed Circuits specifications and wire assembly specifications that includes visual inspection and micro-section evaluation.

• Knowledge and understanding of critical design attributes related to PCB industry. Ensure supplier contract flow-down requirements are implemented and verified and interfaces with supplier on a daily basis.

• Basic understanding of SAP Quality Modules
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration

• Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Engineering, Supplier Management, Supplier Quality Management, Subcontracts (buyers) and Government Representatives.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $91,300 - $175,000. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
