We are recruiting for a Systems Engineer to be part of the highly innovative Simulation & System Labs (SSL) organization, responsible for developing and maintaining Aviation Simulation Systems utilized for systems development from concept design through production and delivery.
Within SSL resides an extensive selection of simulators and software/systems integration test capabilities. Our products are used to advance Avionic systems development, strengthen pilot familiarization, assess human factors, evaluate aircraft control laws, improve mission study effectiveness, provide test capabilities required for contract verification, and provide integration testing and verification capabilities for aircraft systems and software.
You should bring to the table your experience gained while pursuing a science, technology, engineering, or math degree with a desire to learn and take on new challenges. This requisition is for a Senior Staff Systems Engineering position assigned to the Common Stim team responsible for managing multi-spectral lab stimulator procurement activities across Lines of Business used in the development of real-time simulation systems consisting of avionics hardware in-the-loop simulations. The primary responsibility of this position is leading the system engineering responsibilities for Electronic Warfare (EW) or Radar related stimulator subsystem procurements. Details of the responsibilities include leading subsystem requirements development for new capabilities, requirements change management implementation between LM Aero and the EW or Radar product supplier, system integration support of new capabilities, planning for management of component obsolescence, anomaly resolution, and development of proposals and requests for proposals.
This position will require close coordination with laboratory customers, new business development, laboratory functional leadership, and laboratory system development teams to effectively address new capability requests for the laboratories. This position will provide technical support and advice to the laboratory and supplier development teams to ensure common understanding of proposed new system capabilities that will encompass the full product development process from development of system requirements and design, product development, system integration, system verification and product operation and customer support.
This position may require unique program security clearances that will be initiated upon selection and acceptance in filling this position.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 20+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in leading the implementation of System Engineering practices
- Experience in development of avionics hardware in-the-loop simulation systems.
- Experience with functional and interface knowledge on one or more of the following: avionics sensors, such as radar, electronic warfare, or CNI subsystems (communication, navigation, identification).
- Experience using the DOORS requirements management tool.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple engineering teams.
Desired Skills:
- Degrees preferred: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics
- Performs system requirements development, system design development, system integration and verification on complex systems.
- Familiarity with F-35 Mission Systems Architecture and subsystems.
- Experience in development of System Requirements and Allocation to subsystems.
- Experience in development of detail System Design
- Working knowledge regarding military threat analysis.
- Experience in development and execution of System Test Procedures
- Experience in delivering products to external customers
- Demonstrated experience in detail planning (estimating, task scheduling using MS Project)
- Working knowledge of EVMS and implications to project decision making.
- Strong technical leadership
- Strong oral written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Strong planning skills to include logical task structure, estimating, etc.
- Strong understanding of product development
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
