What does this role look like?

Alongside a wide-ranging multidiscipline team within our Electronics Packaging department, you will have responsibilities for electronics packaging development including mechanical design, stress and thermal analysis, an electronics and mechanical CAD (drawing development and release).




Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

• Create 3D solid models in CREO and/or IDEAS of space flight avionics and electrical ground support equipment.
• Support trade studies on electronic packaging design approaches
• Provide technical data for informal and formal Design Review documentation and presentations.
• Electromechanical design to include circuit card assemblies, chassis design, electronic enclosure design for a variety of missions and customers.
• Collaboration with electrical, manufacturing, materials and parts engineering.
• Many opportunities for training, stretch assignments and leadership tasks are available and encouraged.




To be effective in this role, you will need:

• Career-level experience in electronics packaging for space flight applications, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and CREO and/or Pro-E CAD design.
• 14+ years professional experience; 12+ years with Masters degree.
• While no clearance is needed for this position, US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Experience in Mechanical Design with strong understanding of electronics, structures, mechanics and materials.

• Mechanical hardware or harness design, manufacture and integration experience.

• CAD modeling and drafting experience.

• While no clearance is needed for this position, US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
• CREO, SolidWorks and/or similar CAD data modeling experience
• Experience with analysis in Ansys or similar simulation tool
• Exposure to DFx Principles (Design for Affordability, Design for Manufacturability, etc.).
• Previous product engineering experience.
• Experience as a technical lead including: resource planning and training, maintaining schedules, and ensuring technical performance.
• Ability to communicate issues and additional resource needs to leadership.
• Experience with subcontracted hardware suppliers.
• Experience performing tolerance stack ups.
• Experience with 3D printing/prototyping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $123,500 - $236,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
