As a Materials and Processes Engineer you will be engaged with work on a broad range of projects in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.
In this role you will:
• Select Materials, and Processes (M&P) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite, or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success
• Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
• Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
• Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes, prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

Successful applicants will typically possess 2 years of professional experience with a minimum education level of Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering related fields)
Basic Qualifications:
Skill Requirements:
• Knowledge of a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines including non-metals, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations
• Materials and processes related experience and/or field of study
• Formal coursework, training, experience and/or knowledge in Materials or Processes for development, improvement, design, application and production
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Security Clearance Requirements:
• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Qualified applicants must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance to be considered.
Desired Skills:
• Familiar with general aerospace materials and processes
• Familiarity with technical requirements (material and process specifications, program requirements, etc.)
• Familiarity with technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
• Non-conformance and failure analysis disposition experience
• Understanding of material properties definitions
• Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering B.S. Desired
• Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Active or Current DoD Security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
