LM Space is seeking a Government Relations Representative to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA! This position is an exceptional mid-career opportunity for someone who thrives on what is happening in Space and how it works at the policy level – for example: what organizations are involved, the role of government, business, education, and community officials and organizations, and how Lockheed Martin Space translates policy activities into mission success and business success.

The Government Relations Representative reports directly to the Lockheed Martin Space (LMS) Director of Government Relations and supports the overall Strategy and Business Development Team as well as the corporate Lockheed Martin Government Affairs (LMGA) Team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate government relations and related activities for Lockheed Martin Space in California.
• Work with other corporate entities to affect a “OneLM” strategy and to implement a 21st Century Security Vision.
• Coordinate with and supports the government relations activities of the corporation and other Lockheed Martin Business Areas in California.
• Lead government relations activities for Lockheed Martin Space in California and has lead for government relations activities in Northern California and the Bay Area.
• Provide support to site executives, program leadership, and other functions, working in partnership with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
• Work primarily at the state and local level but also has interactions with federal officials and national organizations.
• Track and analyze legislative and regulatory trends and government relations activities of the corporation, LMS, other LM Business Areas, other aerospace and defense companies, and other businesses and organizations. Prepares reports, presentations, and other products as directed.
• Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of government relations and program activities and events.
• Regularly represent LMS at functions, events, with organizations, and before governmental officials.
• Support LMCO leaders and other employees in doing the same.
• Provide support in planning, coordinating, organizing, and executing internal and external meetings, events, and activities including with customers, employees, and visitors as appropriate and serving in lead and support roles dependent on audience and stakeholders.

The core duties of this position are expected to remain government relations but it is possible this position may be assigned to work with another internal organization up to about 50% of the time either on a short-term, periodic basis or perhaps long-term.

The individual selected should be a strong planner and problem solver who readily adapts to change, works independently, can balance the expectations of different leaders, and regularly exceeds expectations. The selected candidate will frequently plan and execute events, visits, and activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Must be able to juggle multiple priorities and requests and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality. Candidate must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and will be required to engage effectively with all levels of leadership and employees and with senior level visitors and external officials and organizations. Must be an expert in identifying and concisely conveying what needs to be done, what was done, why it is important, and explain the government relations role in reports, presentations, and other communications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with federal, state, and local government issues and/or processes
- Professional experience with state and local business and policy organizations (for example: chambers of commerce or professional associations)
- Experience interacting with executive leadership and senior level government customers
- Experience preparing and executing meetings, visits and/or events
- Must be able to travel occasionally
Desired Skills:
Experience working with:
- Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Bay Area Chambers of Commerce, and/or similar organizations
- The Aerospace and Defense Alliance of California (ADAC), the California Manufacturing and Technology Association (CMTA), California Chapter of the Aerospace States Association and/or similar organizations

- At least 8-10 years’ of professional experience with business and organizations such as chambers
- At least 5 years’ experience with federal, state, and local issues and governmental processes
- At least 1 years’ experience with aerospace and defense companies and organizations
­- Experience in collaborating with and advising on policy, budgetary, programmatic and political issues as they relate to business interests ­

- Ability to work with a diverse set of individuals to act as one in the pursuit of common business objectives ­
- Strategic thinking ­
- Ability to analyze the "big picture" from the political, customer, and company perspectives and to make practical recommendations regarding communications and political advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels ­
- Ability to identify and understand trends in political and customer communities as derived from trade publications, political, and economic forums and interaction with key stakeholders ­
- Ability to develop and maintain industry, government and community relationships as part of an integrated and ongoing process of win and "keep sold" and business development activities ­
- Ability to operate among senior company, customer, business, and political leaders and to be seen in these communities as an authentic and credible representative of Lockheed Martin
- Demonstrated ability of tact, judgement, and initiative

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $100,400 - $192,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $115,500 - $217,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
