Job Responsibilities
Description:The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong working knowledge of software engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to support the Applied AI organization as well as the LAIC’s broader product portfolio.
This Applied AI organization is composed of small, agile teams that rapidly mature solutions from research prototypes to fielded systems. The selected candidate will focus on developing solutions that harness artificial intelligence to deliver differentiating capabilities for our customers. This role will encompass every phase of the software development lifecycle from requirements generation to flight testing. This may entail:
· Research into state-of-the-art AI, ML, Autonomy and CV techniques.
· Software system design and implementation using TDD.
· Optimization for deployment onto low SWaP embedded systems.
· Integration with UAVs, UGVs, and other target platforms.
· Live system demonstration at flight events and other engagements.
The software systems span a broad range of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) from proof-of-concepts and prototypes to production solutions demonstrated to internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidate can expect to utilize modern ML paradigms drawn from computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning to solve the complex problems faced by our customers.
The selected candidate must have a strong work ethic and exhibit effective time management and interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or another related discipline.
· Experience using machine learning and/or deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch).
· Experience with Python.
· Experience with version control tools and best practices (e.g. git, svn, GitLab, GitHub).
· Familiarity with application development on headless Linux systems.
· Familiarity with modern containerization tools like Docker, Podman, Docker Compose, and K8s.
· Must be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
· Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or another related discipline.
· Experience optimizing ML models for embedded systems (TensorRT, ONNX, etc.)
· Experience with C/C++, Go, Rust, or other compiled languages.
· Experience with modern computer vision techniques.
· Familiarity with software engineering best practices.
· Familiarity with high-performance computing paradigms.
· Familiarity with messaging frameworks (Protobuf, ZeroMQ, RESTful APIs, gRPC, AMQ, Kafka)
· Familiarity with robotics or embedded applications projects

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
