We are seeking an engineering leader experienced in Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) disciplines related to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) who will lead a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control.
This person will serve as the Engineering and Technology Manager (ETM) responsible for the management of HWIL employees with varied technical responsibilities, department initiatives and directorate undertakings, and for driving technical excellence, affordability, and program execution.
What You Will Be Doing
This person will lead a team responsible for tasks that include:
• Knowledge of GNC subsystems
• Design of HWIL subsystems and simulations including electrical diagrams and low-level driver and simulation interfaces
• Coordination with Integration and Test Engineering
• Missile performance analysis for system verification
• Creation and modification to HWIL analysis tools using Perl, Python and Matlab
• Creation of Simulation and Model Description Documents or Analysis Documents
• Support to algorithm developers and Modeling and Simulation team
• Hardware and Software Integration, C++ embedded software development
• Evaluation of system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verification system and subsystem level requirements
• Support of program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
As an ETM, this person will be responsible for providing technical coaching and mentoring, work assignments, employee career development, continuous ongoing feedback, and being their employees advocate in opportunity discussions. ETMs also support functional initiatives and directorate undertakings by coordinating employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessments, salary planning, recognition/disciplinary actions, and engineering competency development. The E&T manager is responsible for supporting program development, execution of program requirements, adherence to engineering development processes, promoting customer focus, and serving as the technical conscience for their program.

Basic Qualifications:
• Active Secret security clearance investigated w/in the last 5 years.
• Knowledge and experience with operation and troubleshooting of Linux.
• Experience in one or more scripting or programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, MATLAB, Perl, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in leveraging state-of-the-art solutions for programs.
• Demonstrated experience developing effective stakeholder and partner relationships.
• Demonstrated experience effectively performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work through technical, project, operational, and resource challenges.
• Proven business acumen to manage multiple assignments and projects with the ability to balance technical requirements with business needs and affordability.
• Demonstrated collaboration and teaming skills at all levels of the organization.
• Strong leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills to provide customer support and support to the team.
Desired Skills:
• Active Top Secret security clearance (investigation within the past 6 years)
• Experience with containers and orchestration, especially in HPC applications using Singularity, Docker, Shifter, Kubernetes etc.
• Scripting ability to support system administration (Ansible, Python, BASH, Perl, Batch, VBScript, PowerShell, etc.)
• Experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) with demonstrated technical knowledge.
• Intuitive thinker that can develop, script, and experiment to contrive and implement new solutions to technical problems.
• Preference for designing, building, scripting, and documenting new environments from the ground-up.
• Extensive experience working in Linux Environments (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, SuSE, etc).
• Understanding of routing/switching networking concepts.
• Understanding of virtualization infrastructure such as VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V, etc.
• Understanding of NAS/SAN/PFS storage systems and related networking.
• Experience with Parallel File Systems (PFS) such as Lustre or GPFS/Spectrum Scale.
• Experience with workload managers such as PBS Pro, SLURM, Torque, Oracle Grid Engine, etc.
• Experience with cluster management utilities such as xCAT, Warewulf, Bright Cluster Manager, etc.
• Prefer Security+, CISSP, or other IAT Level II/III security certification.
• Knowledge/Experience with Multi-Level Security (MLS) or Multi-Category Security (MCS) solutions.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD
pipelines and software version control such as Git.
• Experience in a science or engineering discipline and software or computing unique to their fields.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

About
The Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineer at Lockheed Martin will have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify technologies such as missile autopilot, guidance algorithms, inertial target tracking, and Navigation algorithms using Kalman Filters for optimal estimation techniques. They will also have the opportunity to design, simulate and verify precision servo control and pointing algorithms for gimbaled seekers and other sensors as well as various actuators and mechanisms. Modelling and simulation of these systems is performed primarily in Matlab and C++.
