The Network Engineer:
- Designs and plans network communications systems.
- Designs, develops and oversees system architectures, including complex systems and systems design activities.
- Serves as focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture, ensuring conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system.
- Develops systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, as well as specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conducts testing of network design.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Basic Qualifications:
- Significant hands-on experience with network hardware, configuration, cabling, and support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OSI Model, and
Cisco Switch and Routing Technology knowledge (Cisco ISR and Catalyst).
- Experience with network system deployment.
Proven ability to resolve network connectivity problems.
- Ability to document all network changes and maintain current topology drawings.
- Experience supporting the acquisition of hardware and maintaining accurate inventory of devices in the field and in storage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and capability to successfully explain procedures in writing or verbally.
- In accordance with DoD 8570, position requires IAT II, CompTIA Security+ certification within 6 months of hire
- US Citizenship; Active US DoD SECRET clearance required prior to start
Desired Skills:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification.
- Experience with Cisco GetVPN or other WAN encryption technologies.
- Experience with Network Management tools.
- Familiarity with DoD Cyber Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and vulnerabilities.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
