THE WORK

As the SCSS Strategy and Business Development Director, you will lead the strategic vision and growth initiatives for this market segment. Partnering closely with the SCSS Vice President, you will oversee domestic and international business development, manage a robust opportunity pipeline, and drive customer engagement strategies. Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing and executing growth strategies for SCSS products, including Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), Multi-Mission Surface Combatants (MMSC), ship control systems, Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), and ship integration and test.
• Leading a team to capture new business opportunities and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
• Engaging with key stakeholders, including the U.S. Navy, international navies, shipyards, system integrators, and technology partners.
• Managing new business fund (NBF) investments and guiding decision-making to maximize return on investment.
• Driving innovation and collaboration across the SCSS portfolio to deliver cutting-edge solutions in a competitive market.

You are a strategic leader with expertise in naval systems, business development, and customer engagement. You bring a strong track record of successfully managing business growth, developing talent, and fostering relationships with both military and industry stakeholders. You have:
• Experience in strategy, business development, or program leadership within the defense or naval industry.
• A proven ability to drive growth, capture new business, and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Knowledge of SCSS-related products, including surface combatants, ship control systems, and unmanned vessels.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Basic Qualifications:
•Proven experience in doing international business, from thought leadership to capture execution, with a focus on the naval shipbuilding and systems integration market
•Demonstrated experience leading and winning complex captures in the naval shipbuilding and systems integration market.
•Experience or familiarity with the DoD Planning, Programming, and Budgeting System, as well as international naval acquisition processes
•Ability to develop market segment level growth strategy and translate into measurable and executable tasks
•Demonstrated experience delivering on Orders commitments
•Ability to build strong relationships with customers, industry partners, and across the LM enterprise
•Direct leadership experience
•Experience with New Opportunity identification and pipeline management
•Experience making priority funding decisions, managing and executing budgets
•Demonstrated experience mentoring the team to identify “Art of the deal” activities to increase probability of win
•Experience teaming with multiple industry partners
•Secret Clearance with ability to obtain special access
Desired Skills:
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in business development, leadership, and strategy, with a focus on the naval small combatants, USV, and systems integration market. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders. The candidate should also have a deep understanding of the SCSS market, including the trends, challenges, and opportunities that are shaping the industry.

•Experience with ship systems, including design, development, and integration
•Strong understanding of US Navy and international naval requirements and acquisition processes
•Knowledge of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) and their intended applications in naval operations
•Experience with Ship Integration and Test capabilities
•Ability to assess commercial market place
•Consider merger and acquisition opportunities
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $180,000 - $287,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
