The engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary
engineering team on the Trusted Security Solutions (TSS) Program.
THE WORK
Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is looking for production professionals to work on Cross-Domain Solution (CDS) products that protect and defend the information flow of critical and time sensitive data on many military applications and networks. This position is for a Software Engineer (SW) on the Radiant Mercury program. Radiant Mercury is the US Navy's premier Cross Domain Solution (CDS), and LM has been the prime contractor for over 20 years.
As part of the SW Team, you will ensure software development standards are met and implemented.
The primary work location is at the Deer Creek Facility (DCF) in Littleton Colorado with limited ability to work remotely. The Candidate will be required to come into the site to conduct their work. Travel may be required for this position.
What You Will Be Doing
The selected candidate will be supporting the TSS Program in all phases of the CDS configuration and deployment process. Seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our Radiant Mercury team. This role will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining software components related to Message Analysis and Generation (MAG), our proprietary data format. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, scripting, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
MAG Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain software components for parsing, formatting, and manipulating data in the MAG format. Data Processing: Implement efficient and robust data processing pipelines to handle large volumes of data in various formats. Software Integration: Integrate MAG-related software components with other system modules and ensure seamless data flow. Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability. Participate in code reviews and other quality assurance activities. Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize software performance to meet system requirements and ensure efficient resource utilization. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for developed software components, including design documents, user manuals, and API specifications. Troubleshooting and Debugging: Investigate and resolve software defects and performance issues. Provide support to other team members in troubleshooting complex technical problems. Requirements Analysis: Participate in the analysis of system requirements and contribute to the design of software solutions. Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineers, testers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest software development trends and technologies, including new MAG format updates and enhancements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
- Strong programming and scripting skills in multiple languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python).
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Expected to obtain Security+ certification within 6 months of starting
- Ability to embrace complex technical challenges and apply ‘systems thinking’ for resolution
- Possess excellent customer relationship management skills to include outreach and communications experience.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to effectively communicate with end customers
Desired Skills:
- Secret level clearance; Top Secret preferred
- Experience with data parsing and formatting techniques.
- Experience with developing software for secure systems.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with cross-domain solutions or other security-focused technologies.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload based on team objectives
- Ability to work in a team environment and have strong coordination, organization, and communication skills
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
