Job Responsibilities

Job ID: 673513BR Date posted: Aug. 26, 2024 Program: Space Security - WHISKEY
Description:Lockheed Martin has partnered with the United States Government. Working collaboratively, we are challenged with finding innovative solutions to provide freedom of operations and protect the interests of the United States in space. We are developing and evolving software solutions that solve critical emerging needs:
• Generating and simulating operational level plans to explore the art of the possible
• Modeling potential debris clouds created from a space based collision and assessing risk to satellites over time
• Dynamically optimizing both terrestrial and space-based sensors to provide comprehensive space domain awareness
• Performing constant analysis of an ever-changing landscape to identify any potential threats to ensure safety of our critical assets

Our software engineers leverage modern languages, tools, and processes, in an environment dedicated to continuous improvement of quality, efficiency, and developer satisfaction.

You will serve as a software developer on an Agile Development Team following core DevSecOps principles to rapidly develop and deliver fully functioning mission capability to end users securely and continuously. Our team leverages industry standard open-source software solutions such as GitLab, Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher. Our automation-first and “everything as code” mindset allows our software engineers to focus their time and efforts on what is most important - building cutting edge functionality for our end users. We are primarily seeking a front-end software engineering skillset, but you will have the opportunity to work as a full-stack developer on both front-end and back-end software using Java and JavaScript as well as developing automated tests (unit tests, service level tests, and end-to-end tests) to ensure high quality software is built into our continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.

We pride ourselves on providing elegant, engaging, and intuitive user experiences: we design interfaces using Google’s Material Design guidelines and follow the latest web platform and web component standards in developing our user interfaces. Due to the complexity of the domain, our interfaces also often have 3D and geospatial data visualization components in Cesium.js to allow a user to quickly ingest real-time space situational awareness data.

We're seeking candidates who are passionate about their craft, adamant about product quality and focused on our customer’s mission.
Basic Qualifications:
• No clearance is required to start, but must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI clearances
• Experienced with JavaScript (both frontend UI and backend Node.js microservices)
• Experienced with Kubernetes and Helm
• Experienced with Docker containers
• Experienced with Git version control
• Experienced with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab) and techniques
• Experienced with working on an Agile team, working within Jira and Confluence
Desired Skills:
• Background in or familiarity with orbital mechanics
• Familiarity with Google Material Design
• Experience with Cesium or other virtual globes
• Experience with Jasmine, Playwright, Cucumber for automated tests
• Experience with D3 or other data visualization libraries
• Experience in application containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
• Experience with standard change management and build/packaging tools (e.g., Git, Maven, Gradle, NPM, Yarn)
• Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Experienced with Java (backend microservices)
