Job Responsibilities
Description:Function
❑ Install, maintain and repair all plant plumbing and piping systems and equipment.
Typical Responsibilities
❑ Work from maintenance or service directives, blueprints, diagrams, complicated drawings, sketches,
schematics or other written or verbal instructions to install, modify, repair, and maintain plumbing
related systems.
❑ Use a variety of tools such as pipe benders, threaders, torches and other specialty tools pertaining to
trade.
❑ Set up, adjust, connect, maintain and repair hot and cold water circulating systems water treatment
systems, chilled water systems, gas and chemical circulating and recovery systems, sprinkler
systems, steam lines and heating systems and related equipment.
❑ Work with a variety of liquids, (water, chilled water, fire protection systems and others), chemicals
(acids, alkalines, ammonia, sanitary and industrial wastes, Cyanide, Ethyl alcohol, Silver Plating,
Copper Plating, Chromium, Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Methanol and others),
and gases (such as high-and low-pressure steam, air CO2, nitrogen, natural gas, and ammonia).
❑ Install and maintain all types of valves, regulators, expansion connectors, shut-offs, and other parts
and fixtures related to the various systems.
❑ Diagnose, locate and correct all plumbing, sprinkler, steam, and fuel line irregularities or
malfunctioning equipment.
❑ Keep plumbing systems for all hazardous chemicals and waste streams separated, per applicable
specifications.
❑ Use all types and sizes of ladders, hoists and maintain operating licenses for various equipment such
as power-operated lifts Condor lifts, scissors lifts, forklifts, etc., to facilitate repairs at all required
heights.
❑ Assist Air Conditioning Department with the removal and installation of coils for air conditioning
systems.
❑ Program, calibrate and troubleshoot Water Test system to ensure proper operation, settings and
recovery.
❑ Ensure operation and calibration on processing tanks is correct after repairs.
❑ Travel to off-site facilities to check, maintain and/or repair all plumbing and heating systems.
❑ Use computer to obtain materials from established sources to complete work orders.
❑ Use maintenance system to create and close plumbing work orders.
❑ Also perform all duties required to complete installation of units such as heaters, etc., including drilling
of steel or wood members, removal and setting of wood block, raising and lowering of units and other
operations.
❑ When emergency or unusual conditions arise in the operation of Maintenance Department, or at
request of supervisor, may be assigned other maintenance duties usually of a less skilled nature.
❑ Refer unusual conditions to working leader or foreman
❑ Maintain respirator qualifications or hood certification and be able to utilize at all times.
❑ Utilize all available PPE and or hood certification.
❑ Direct and instruction one or two lower grade workers.
❑ Perform operator checklist as required and comply with all EH&S procedures.
❑ As required segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a broad shop trade knowledge of pipefitting, reduction valves, regulators, local plumbing code, including methods of installing industrial piping systems for various purposes; ability to read and accurately interpret complicated piping layouts and structural drawings; use of mathematics, principally geometry, applicable to layout work; thorough knowledge of required tools and equipment, ultrasonic leak
detecting systems, environmental clarity testing, water sampling and general theory of pumps and operation.
Equivalent to 4 years industrial trades training
specializing in plumbing and steam fitting.
Also requires specific training in hazardous chemical handling, confined space procedures and use of personal
protective equipment related to job.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
