Lockheed Martin is looking for a dedicated Chief Systems Engineer (CSE) for Product Center and IGNITE’s teams. This position will serve as LM Space technical oversight for the Product Center Enterprise components and IGNITE’s Development Efforts by providing critical leadership related to the product’s most challenging technical problems. In addition to broad technical oversight, the CSE is specifically responsible for daily management of the product baseline and Systems Engineering functional staff.

The Chief Systems Engineer will also serve as the Systems Engineering Functional leader for all systems engineers supporting Product Center and IGNITE Development activities. This leader will shape the future, leading a team focused on standard processes, while supporting and advancing Enterprise and Engineering Strategic Threads.

A significant focus on this position will be cross-organization relationships and collaborative problem solving. The CSE will interface with program teams, IGNITE and Product center, and as such the candidate must have shown success in working with customers (internally and externally) to mutually agreeable outcomes.

As the Chief Systems Engineer, your roles and responsibilities will include:
• Technical leader of the front end of the development process and lead integration activities
• Lead the team through design phase milestones including Critical Design Reviews and Critical Integration Reviews
• Lead the transition from design phase to integration and test
• Represent Lockheed Martin as the Chief Systems Engineer and Systems Integration lead across the customer and industry team. Establish relationships across this team and lead by influence
• Collaborate with business development, IRAD and advanced capability teams to help inform technology roadmaps and new capability insertion points
• Drive closure on the LM400 product line design and enable a transition into production phase
• Solicit outside support from Subject Matter Experts and Independent Review Teams when appropriate
• Provide timely communication with LM Leadership and customers with a focus on communicating in impact, risk and implications
• Management and timely resolution of the program top technical issues to include assembling the teams, providing technical guidance, engaging the enterprise, and communicating with the customers.
• Drive process and tool development and deployment, supporting new business initiatives, and ensuring standard technical processes are in use on programs
• Drive and execute active knowledge sharing through technical knowledge management to ensure technical domain expertise of the entire team and crucial skill retention
• Broad technical oversight to include compliance with command media and dissemination of lessons learned for mission success
• Identify and implement cost, schedule, and/or quality improvement initiatives especially as are enabled by new digital capabilities being fielded by the enterprise
• Be accountable to the Program Manager for the engineering efforts including program execution, supplier sell-off and estimation of engineering scope in proposals
• The successful candidate must also have ability to organize, motivate and lead groups of engineering personnel, and demonstrate in-depth technical
Basic Qualifications:
• Broad technical understanding of spacecraft systems and experience with resolving difficult hardware & software problems, particularly during Assembly, Test and Launch Operations phases
• Experience with the development and delivery of complex space flight hardware
• Experience with cost account management principles, techniques, and processes
• Experience driving closure and resolving complex technical issues/challenges (i.e. Failure Review Board, Trade Studies, Design Reviews, etc.)
• Experience as a technical leader, coordinating across multiple program teams to resolve issues across the development lifecycle
• Ability to obtain security clearance, therefore U.S Citizenship is required
Desired Skills:
• U.S. citizenship with an Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Demonstrated experience with development and delivery of space subsystems and components
• Prior experience as an LM Space Chief Engineer or Chief Systems Engineer
• Recent experience on a National Security Space Spacecraft Program
• Deep electrical engineering acumen and a strong background with electrical hardware
• Experience with the LM400 space vehicle bus
• Experience with development of flight software
• Experience with development of mission software
• Strong Mentoring skills as evidenced through active mentoring relationships
• Cross LM Business Unit and/or other Industry experience
• Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and build effective relationships
• Strong mission and end-to-end systems expertise
• Significant experience in baseline management ensuring successful program completion
• Experience with risk and opportunity management processes
• Prior experience as an LM Space CPE and/or RSE
• Experience collaborating across the LM Enterprise between Programs, Product Centers, Talent Centers, and Ignite to achieve program delivery success
• Demonstrated ability to communicate successfully across all levels of an organization from entry level to executive Vice Presidents
• Demonstrated ability to apply systems thinking and critical thinking skills, translating ideas into actions and results
• Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team showcasing strong team building, relationship building, and personal acumen
• Experience performing technical evaluations on suppliers

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $144,600 - $255,070. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
