You will be the Research Engineer for the Environmental Test Lab team, supporting development and production efforts on aerospace products. Our team is responsible for performing hands-on production support, research, and product development, including the research, specification, planning, design, development, and testing of aerospace products.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Research Engineer, you will be responsible for performing research and product development activities, including material property testing, fabrication, and hardware integration. You will work on projects that encompass multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical and mechanical engineering, and apply mechanical engineering principles to real-world problems.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of vibration and temperature tests on electronic components
• Conducting modal analysis and operating digital vibration controllers
• Performing dynamic and climatic tests in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards
• Interacting with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers through effective communication and writing skills
• Setting up and running vibration test equipment and temperature/humidity chambers
• Utilizing accelerometer, thermocouple, and strain gage instrumentation

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience supporting the preparation, planning, setup, and execution of vibration and temperature tests on electronic components.
• Experience operating digital vibration controllers to produce broad band random, swept sine, classical shock and shock synthesis tests using electrical-mechanical vibration exciters.
• Experience with conducting dynamic and climatic tests in accordance with approved procedures, safety standards, and organizational policy and ensure proper equipment calibration.
• Familiarity with accelerometer, thermocouple, and strain gage instrumentation
• Experience with setting up and running vibration test equipment and temperature/humidity chambers
Desired Skills:
• Experience with instrument items with accelerometers to conduct modal testing.
• Experience with performing modal analysis from collected data.
• Experience with instrument test items with thermocouples and conducting tests by operating temperature/humidity chambers to specified conditions.
• Experience with instrument test items with accelerometers and conducting tests by operating vibration equipment to specified levels.
• Experience with interacting with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers through effective communication and writing skills.
• Knowledge of basic electronics theory and high degree of mechanical aptitude.
Experience operating digital vibration controllers to produce broad band random, swept sine, classical shock and shock synthesis tests using electrical-mechanical vibration exciters.
• Experience supporting preparation, planning, setup, and execution of environmental development, qualification, and production tests on electronic components
• Understands the fundamental concepts of structural dynamics, random vibration theory, and digital signal analysis
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and other basic lab equipment
• Basic understanding of aerospace environments, there derivation and application in a test lab setting.
• Basic understanding of fundamental concepts of random vibration and signal processing.
• Ability to climb stairs and operate mechanical/pneumatic hand tools.
• Experience with NI Labview or equivalent
• Technical writing experience related to development of test reports and procedures.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
