Description:Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business is experiencing growth at our campus in Grand Prairie, TX. We are seeking a computational designer with CG, 3D design and mechanical analysis to join our inter-disciplinary team. Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototype, promotional or specific products. Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

What You Will Be Doing
• Conduct research to enable and support projects through computational design technologies
• Implement novel computational design processes that generate differentiating concepts for future Lockheed Martin products
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers
• Communicate progress clearly to stakeholders
• Develop computational design processes, pipelines, and tools to explore mediation across Lockheed Martin systems
• Work closely with our group technical staff to achieve project goals and objectives
• Develop compelling visuals to communicate R&D concepts to customers or leaders

Basic Qualifications:
• Expertise in Houdini is preferred but expertise in other procedural modeling software will be considered (Blender Geometry Nodes, CATIA Visual Scripting, Rhino Grasshopper)
• Minimum of two to three years of experience in a related field (design, engineering, 3D modeling)
• Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and technologies
• Proficiency in Python programming is preferred but experience with other languages will be considered (C++, VEX, RSL)
• Extensive 3D modeling and/or CAD modeling work experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in engineering, industrial design, computer science, 3D animation, visual effects, or related degree/relevant experience
• This position requires the ability to obtain a secret clearance
Desired Skills:
• Knowledge in the latest trends in design and technology specifically additive manufacturing technologies, 3D printing, CNC Milling or other computer to machine methods.
• Research experience in computational geometry, computational fabrication, computational intelligence, computational dynamics or related fields
• Skilled in proactively handling and executing several high-priority projects simultaneously
• Highly Collaborative and open to constructive feedback
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Fluency and confidence in inspiring teammates and clients with data-driven rationale.
• Passion for tinkering, learning, and trying out new technologies and hardware.
• Appetite for experimentation. We are looking for people who are open to experimentation and who dare to take risks.
• Knowledge in 3D Animation, rendering, or scripting and understands artistic fundamentals of composition
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
