At Lockheed Martin’s C2BMC team, we engineer, develop, and integrate new capabilities for the Missile Defense System, which plays a crucial role in defending the United States and its allies. We work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within smaller, agile teams that specialize in areas such as Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and more. Our goal is to ensure that critical missile defense technologies operate seamlessly and securely.
The Work
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining essential cybersecurity tools and ensuring their compatibility within the broader system environment. Key responsibilities include:
• Provide in-depth analysis and technical support
of a large, distributed system written in Java.
• Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user-support for a large code baseline.
• Follow specifications in order to develop or modify functionality within the code.
• Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation.
• Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards and improve overall efficiency of the system
• Design, code, test and implement tools for automation

Lockheed Martin’s C2BMC team leads the development and fielding of the backbone of America’s missile defense system. We work alongside industry partners and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to design, develop, test, integrate, and field critical hardware and software elements that ensure the effective operation of the Missile Defense System (MDS). Our team of software and systems engineers, architects, and project engineers is based in Huntsville, AL and Colorado Springs, CO—two of the best places to live and work in the U.S.
Who You Are
You are an experienced software engineer with a passion for missile defense technologies. You excel in collaborative environments and thrive in agile teams. You have an understanding of cybersecurity standards and have experience working with and implementing Cyber Tools.
• Proven experience with Java
• A strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.

Basic Qualifications:
• This position requires a Final DoD Secret Clearance

• Experience developing in a Unix/Linux environment
• Java experience
• Proven Hands-on knowledge of software best practices and coding standards
Desired Skills:
• Command and control system application development.
• Previous experience with message translation software.
• Automated test and pipeline development experience
• Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scripts
• Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers; experience setting up a container environment
• Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,900 - $164,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
