Description:Accounting and Close has launched a critical search for a Senior Manager overseeing the Corporate general ledger and close the books. The incoming leader will be a key member of the Corporate Controllers Office and be responsible for the execution of corporate and other functional accounting and closing processes in support of Lockheed Martin’s financial reporting requirements. In addition, this role will be key to researching and providing technical accounting guidance related to equity compensation, deferred compensation, and earnings per share (EPS) calculations for the Corporation.
The primary responsibilities of the role will be to prepare high quality corporate financial reports and closing the corporate ledger on an accelerated timeline. Other specific responsibilities include: preparing forward pricing data that the Corporation uses to price its customer contracts, providing support for the Corporation’s filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), new accounting pronouncements related to compensation arrangements monitoring and development of impacts, and delivering ad-hoc presentations and training to internal stakeholders.
Although many of the responsibilities are technical in nature, the Sr Mgr must be effective communicating and educating technical issues to non-technical audiences, including those at leadership levels. To be successful in this role, the senior manager needs to be a self-starter who adapts well to a dynamic and changing environment while embracing continuous learning and personal development. Interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to effectively build cross functional relationships and demonstrate an appreciation and understanding the business will be paramount to his or her success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate, review, and provide financial and accounting guidance for the corporate accounting ledgers
• Review and recommend modifications to procedures relating to the corporate ledgers
• Execute monthly, quarterly and annual corporate accounting financial close process in a timely manner with high precision and accuracy
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for corporate headquarters in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Review the corporate financial reporting package with the Vice President of Accounting
• Provide support for the Corporation’s filings with the SEC
• Oversee the preparation of forward pricing packages for corporate headquarters
•Oversee and assist with the modification and implementation of new IT systems
• Oversee and assist with maintaining and documenting compliance with internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with SOX 404 standards
• Collaborates with personnel in various corporate functional areas, business areas, and other internal/external personnel (including independent auditors) to support transactions, provide accounting guidance, and prepare the monthly corporate financial reporting package
• Interfaces regularly with members of the external audit team
• Provide technical support and advice regarding areas such as but not limited to deferred compensation and EPS.

Basic Qualifications:
• 8 to 12 years of accounting experience at a large public entity (with some experience in public accounting desired)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or related field
• Active CPA
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Located in the greater Washington D.C. area or willing to relocate (position will be required to be present in the CHQ office in Bethesda)
• Experience in writing technical accounting research memorandums related to accounting transactions
• Prior experience leading a team

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $124,900 - $220,225. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
